Tea & Whiskers: Dear Future Me

Around this time, every year, I write an email to myself and schedule it to arrive sometime in April, usually after my birthday. So, receiving emails from myself with reports on - well myself - every year. Like, interesting past updates about my family, world events, and who I am, and where I am. I started this trend because I also journal, but journals are very difficult to pinpoint a date and time and you can't schedule a letter to arrive to your future self with a journal (I mean, technically I could write a letter to myself and keep it in a box - but I'd totally forget about it.)
But - with an email - you can email your future self and that email will just pop into your inbox and you'll have yourself a little email letter chain with yourself.
It's a really fascinating idea.
Today I received one of those emails from 2024 Kylie, and I thought I'd share with you all the beginnings of the email.
Dear Future Me,
I want you to know that you are dearly loved.
That you walk in the presence of God, and that nothing can remove you from his glory and his grace.
Whatever trials and tribulations come your way, bring you closer to his abounding grace and glory, and allow his immensity to be shone forth in your life.
Trust in him -
I do not know what this next year will bring, things are very turbulent at the moment, but you are filled with hope - that has changed.
Everything is going to be okay.
You don't know how - you have no idea when, but you trust God to fulfill his promise to you.
That he will fulfil the desires of your heart, while you are yet living.
You will have a husband, and you will have children.
The lord has promised you this.
And he wants goodness for you.
Do not let Satan sway you with his negativity. Remain steadfast, knowing that you are always in the presence of the Most High God, for he lives in you, wherever you go, wherever you are, you carry him with you. You are safe. You are protected. You are forever and always with God, a part of God, and in God. You cannot ever be removed from him. Nothing you say or do, not sin, or shame, will remove you from him, or him from you.
You are set free.
Walk out into the world in that knowledge, and trust in him.
For a very long time I had a deep sense of shame attached to my mere existence, and it is very hard to see any self-worth when there is only shame for existing. The thing is, no one can tell you, or show you, or explain to you your own self-worth - it's very much something we have to find on our own, that light of Christ within us.
Learning this revelation, it doesn't magically take away the problems, or my chronic pain - nor after all these years have I found a partner, despite believing it entirely possible because God is God.
I do not understand the world, or the ways of the world,
But I do know one thing, I know that I am dearly loved, that I walk in the presence of God, and that nothing can remove me from his Glory and his Grace.
