I thought I might share with you a speedpaint of the work I've been doing on the front cover for my new novel. I was playing about and figured out how I could really easily screen record my art sessions - didn't need to download anything fancy, didn't need to pay for expensive programs, I could do it with a simple tool already installed on Windows. Gah. Sometimes, it really helps to just strip back to the basics.
Anyway - this little five minute video is about five hours of me painting. Yeah. I'm really slow. ^_^;;
If you're curious, I have a particular fondness of two types of brushes that I downloaded a long time ago, from an artist called Kyle, and he makes amazing Photoshop brushes. I love his Watercolour Pack. I'd say I use it, and the sketch brush, and ink brush, the most out of all my brushes.
Now that I know I can easily screen record, you can expect more art videos.
Who are these characters? The elder brother is Toyah Astraveen and the younger is Liro Astraveen. They're the main characters in my new sci-fi novel, inspired by three of my top favorite sci-fi series/authors: Alan Dean Foster's Pip and Flinx series.
Anne McCaffery's Tower and Hive series. E.E Doc Smith's Lens Men series.
Basically, I thought to myself - hm - what would I, as a reader, really love to read - and I wrote it. Is it going to be any good? I have no idea. But it's been fun and I have been enjoying the experience of writing something again.
